Key Job Responsibilities:
- Accounting for Community Benefit. Actively manages and audits
the necessary tracking associated with the requirements of a
community benefit system. To that end collects and reports data
through CBISA software, accounting software systems, and directly
from accountable parties as necessary if not captured through other
financial systems. Establishes and maintains collaborative process
with internal partners to calculate, interpret data, audit and
report to internal and external constituencies including IHA, NHA,
CHI, and state and federal agencies. Maintains current knowledge of
community benefit, reporting, accounting and tax practices to
accurately account for community benefit activities in accordance
with current IRS, Health System and Nebraska and Iowa state
definitions. Provides community benefit activity and financial
information necessary for IRS reporting.
- Training and Education. Responsible to train and develop CBISA
software Reporters. Provides individual, group and online education
and development to CHI Health employees and particular work units
to enhance the understanding of the community benefit
opportunities, and how and when to report activities and stories
using CBISA and/or directly with Community Benefit Financial
Analyst. Supports system-wide training and communications to
employees and constituents about community benefit and CHI Healths
community benefit program.
- Technological expertise. Enters data, runs reports, manages and
s erves as the internal expert on Lyons software (CBISA), inclusive
of recommendations regarding upgrades, support requirements, etc.
Audits and ensures accepted reporting of community benefit
activities in CBISA. Develops and maintains the Community Benefit
and Healthier Communities internal CHI Health website.
- Quarterly and Annual Reporting. Responsible for developing
quarterly reporting of established metrics and leads a review with
key financial and communication partners.Assumes the primary
responsibility, under the direction of the Division Director of
Community Benefit and Healthier Communities, for the development of
an in-depth FY Community Benefit Analysis Report, the annual
Community Benefit Report for the general public and other internal
and external reports about matters relating to community benefit.
These reports will include quantitative and qualitative analysis of
community benefit activities in formats appropriate for external
stakeholders and internal leadership. Prepares appropriate and
comprehensive community benefit reports for CHI Health constituents
including IHA and NHA. Also provides Ad Hoc presentations as
requested by system leaders.
- Financial Processing and Tracking. Assists with the processing,
tracking and financial coding of payments for the Community Benefit
departmental expenses and completes a monthly reconciliation of
posted expenses in comparison to budget. Supports the Division
Director of Community Benefit and Healthier Communities with the
budget development and program allocation.
- Accounting for Mission & Ministry Grants. Responsible for
developing and implementing a process for the accounting of CHI
Health Mission & Ministry grants within the financial accounting
system. Works directly with the grant managers to reconcile grant
expenses on a monthly basis and prepares timely reports to these
individuals for their reporting purposes.Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Financial Field or Healthcare Systems
Administration requiredKnowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in a financial analyst
- Experience in community benefit accounting and reported highly
- Demonstrates good understanding of the requirements for
community benefit activity and reporting for the not for profit
health care system.
- Demonstrates financial analytical skills and mastery of health
care accounting systems.
- Demonstrates written communication and analytics presentation
- Computer proficiency in MS Office Products (Word, Excel,
PowerPoint) and other accounting or financial systems.Additional
