Child Saving Institute (CSI) provides comprehensive services to children at risk and their families through programs such as early childhood education, in-home services, foster care, adoption, early childhood consultation, pediatric consultation, and an emergency shelter.Job Purpose:Prepare general accounting transactions and review & analyze accounting information as needed in order to ensure the quality, accuracy, and timeliness of accounting transactions and reports.Essential Job Duties:

  • Record the billings and payments for Child Welfare Service Programs, Childcare Tuition, Early Head Start, Childcare Subsidy Title XX, Therapy Insurance and Emergency Shelter services. Process and distribute statements for clients.
  • Perform monthly collectability analysis and reconciliations of receivables for the Accounting Manager and CFO.
  • Reconcile balance sheet general ledger accounts monthly ensure accurate postings of accounting transactions.
  • Perform fixed asset entries including monthly depreciation, asset place-in-service, and asset write-offs. Reconcile construction-in-progress accounts on a quarterly basis.
  • Perform investment transaction entries for the CSI Foundation.
  • Research, record, and reconcile general accounting transactions as assigned.
  • Provide backup for reviewing and processing of bank deposits, processing Accounts Payable, and back up to the Accounting Manager as needed.Other duties:
    • Complete other responsibilities as assigned by supervisor.
    • Complete training necessary to perform position and necessary for professional growth.
    • Facilitate a team atmosphere by working in partnership with other agency staff and promote a positive working environment.
    • Represent the agency and programs in a positive manner to clients, community organizations and the public, in general.
    • Work beyond scheduled work hours as needed to complete assigned tasks.Job Requirements:To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.       • Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field.
      • Two years' experience in accounting with reconciliation responsibilities.
      • Knowledge of basic accounting practices and internal controls.
      • Work-related experience in the daily use of Excel, Work, Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central, and other automated accounting software packages.
      • Possess an attention to detail necessary to manage customer balances.
      • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, proportions, percentages. Ability to apply concepts of basic math and algebra.
      • Good customer relation skills.
      • Strong detail orientation, organization and follow-through.
      • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
      • Ability to read and interpret documents including contracts, spreadsheets, invoices, statements, remittances, and procedure documents.
      • Ability to write routine reports, and correspondence.
      • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization and to represent the agency in a positive, professional manner to vendors, clients, State of Nebraska, and other parties outside the agency.
      • Ability to maintain effective working relationships with supervisors, clients, support staff and others.
      • Strong problem-solving skills.
      • Ability to work timely and accurately with large amounts of data and a variety of responsibilities and to organize and prioritize work.
      • Moral integrity and honesty, as position requires handling of agency money.
      • Ability to consistently apply policies and procedures under varying situations.
      • Ability to maintain consistency and accuracy in his/her work.
      • Ability to apply common sense/approach situations logically when problem solving.
      • Ability to interact with clients with sensitivity and responsiveness to cultural and socioeconomic characteristics in the service population.Vehicle Requirements:
        • Own transportation that meets agency vehicle inspection requirements.
        • Valid driver's license with no more than 3 points.
        • Proof of insurance that meets agency requirements.Environment/ Physical Requirements: The physical demands and work environment characteristics described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
