Job Description:
The Student Financial Counselor at Midland University is a
customer service focused, self-motivated, detail oriented,
individual who strives to provide exemplary customer service to
students and families when addressing the financial aspects of
attending Midland University. This position performs a variety of
service tasks in order to serve the student body in billing,
maintaining, adjusting & collecting student account balances.
Midland offers full benefits, including tuition remission for
family. The work week is M-F 8 - 4:30 with the primary workspace
being at the Fremont campus. Flexible scheduling can be discussed.
Duties and Responsibilities:Answer student & parent questions, both
in person and via phone and email.Term billing of student accounts
both for undergraduate and graduate students which includes
preparing and reviewing statements for accuracyReceive and apply
payments to student accounts, in person, via mail and via the third
party billing and internet payment systemAssist customers in
establishing payment plans, applying judgment as neededCalculate,
create and assist with the student refund issuance.Prepare and
communicate instructional information for customers on how to
complete tasks associated with student accounts.Assist with daily
cash balancing tasks.Oversee the billing process for outside
partners that assist with payment of student accounts.Oversee the
Pre-Collections communication and Collections efforts on unpaid
student accounts. Assist with preparation of 1098-Ts,
annuallyPrepare and run various month-end reports related to
student accounts receivableVarious other duties as assigned.
Minimum Job Requirements:Proven background in exemplary customer
service with at least 3 years' experience in accounts receivable or
related work. Experience with student financial aid or related
compliance experience preferred. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Required:Excellent written and oral communication and customer
service skillsAbility to maintain confidentiality of financial
records and informationProficient use of Microsoft Office Suite,
excel and word requiredAbility to create, compose, and edit written
materialsAbility to collaborate across departments, follow policy
yet remain flexible, providing a friendly, supportive student
experience
