Job Description:
Summary: As the Regional Plant Controller, you will be
responsible for directing and overseeing the general accounting
functions for multiple Green Plains Inc. biorefineries located in
the United States. Functions include hiring and directing the
accounting staff, and working with the Corporate Controller to
prepare financial reports, budgets, cash flow reports, cost
reports, tax returns, and any other tasks assigned. The Regional
Plant Controller will also assist the Transformation Office to
accomplish company goals.Responsibilities:Oversees the general
accounting function for various plants to ensure accounting is done
in accordance with all financial policies, US GAAP, and SEC
requirementsIn coordination with the Transformation Office, and
CAO, help drive the digital transformation as part of the GP
digital transformation teamCollaborate with the team to lead a
change in closing processes, eliminating manual, ineffective, and
inefficient processes in favor of automationEliminate the use of
excel/spreadsheets for reporting, estimates, etc. in favor of
current and newly selected systems and the institution of automated
entries, accruals, and Robotic Process AutomationUtilize current
systems and capabilities to drive rapid near-term wins in
automation and process improvement (e.g., MTM, accounts payable,
accounts receivable, and other applicable processes)Provide
direction and coaching to P&L owners, specifically related to
period estimates, actuals, and "to-go" expectations, including
forecasting of future outcomes utilizing coaching, training, policy
enhancements, and disciplinary actions were neededPartner with
FP&A and Operations teams to develop financial dashboards and
Key Performance Indicators for the ethanol production facilities to
help drive positive financial results through better decision
makingActing as a consultant and an effective mentor, developing
effective training programs to continually educate personnel
regarding key concepts, systems, processes, estimations, positions,
and valuationEnsures internal controls are developed and
implemented in accordance with Sarbanes Oxley. Also, ensure there
is an appropriate level of documentation of internal controls and
there is an appropriate segregation of duties across all
functionsEnsure all account reconciliations are reviewed on a
monthly basis and appropriate documentation is maintained to
support each balanceBuild and maintain strong working relationships
with the trade desk, operations team, and middle office
personnelManage and review capital investment proposals for ethanol
production facilitiesEvaluate the need for new technology to meet
the organization's financial data processing, control, and
reporting requirementsPrepare memos to support any accounting
conclusions madeOther duties as assignedQualifications:Bachelor's
degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related fieldSolid
knowledge of US GAAP7+ years of accounting-related
experienceExperience managing people and positively influencing
others to achieve results that are in the best interest of the
organizationAbility to foster teamwork - work cooperatively and
effectively with others to resolve problems and make effective
decisionsStrong accounting skills and understanding of financial
reportingExcellent interpersonal and presentation skillsSound
communication abilities, both written and oralMBA, CMA, CPA,
preferredExperience in commodity and energy financeExcellent client
and management liaison skillsAbility to work in a fast-paced
dynamic environmentAbility to work independently and as part of a
multi-functional teamStrong analytical skills in interpretations of
data and identification of anomaliesWork Environment/Physical
Demands:Ability to meet physical demands of the job includes but is
not limited to frequent sitting, standing, frequent computer use,
frequent telephone use, some lifting or moving up to 10 lbs.Valid
driver's license and ability to travel.Ability to work after
hours/weekends and on call as needed.Travel to plant locations as
