Summary The University of Nebraska Medical Center College of Public
Health ( UNMC COPH ) seeks applications and nominations for the
position of Endowed Professor and Director for American Indian
Health. The Endowed Professor and Director of American Indian
Health will be a highly collaborative and recognized leader with a
commitment to excellence in American Indian health education,
research and practice. As a respected researcher in American Indian
Health, will lead and develop the strategic direction for the
Nebraska - HEALING (Health, Education, Advocacy and Leadership
across Indigenous and Native Generations) Project (NE - HEALING ).
The Endowed Professor will create a research agenda, innovation
fund, AI student scholars' program, programing, and strengthen the
relationships with our tribal partners.
RESPONSIBILITIES :
The candidate is expected to:
--- Direct the Nebraska Health, Education, Advocacy and Leadership
across Indigenous and Native Generations program. (NE- HEALING
)
--- Provide research support to the NE- HEALING project
--- Obtain extramural funding to support American Indian Health in
Nebraska, regionally, and nationally
--- Engage in community outreach and service to the department,
college, and university.
--- Provide administrative leadership support to the college
--- Provide teaching and advisement to MPH and PhD students
Required Qualifications --- Ph.D. in Public Health or a closely
related field
--- Experience in a tenure leading position or equivalent research
and teaching experience.
--- Established research program with a successful record of
publishing high-quality and original research in appropriate
disciplinary refereed journals.
--- Demonstrated experience in teaching, advising and mentoring
students.
--- Evidence of meaningful university and professional service,
leadership, and/or outreach.
--- Specific research and teaching interests in American Indian
Health.
--- Familiarity with issues affecting Native communities
specifically in the Midwest.
--- Experience working with American Indian communities on public
health priorities that have the potential to improve health
outcomes
--- Ability to oversee a program of research or large community
efforts;
--- The ability to work independently and collaboratively on
research;
--- Possess effective interpersonal, written and verbal
communication skills and have the ability to contribute positively
to the academic success of the students and the mission of the UNMC
COPH . Supplemental Qualifications --- Familiarity with and
willingness to build relationships with tribal communities and
tribal colleges in Nebraska
--- Proven track record of extramural funding preferably through
federal sources ( NIH , CDC , HRSA ). Working Environment &
