Mechanical Engineer II GENERAL REQUISITION INFORMATION
Vaccination Requirement The University of Nebraska Medicine Center
( UNMC ) requires COVID -19 vaccinations for all students, staff,
and faculty. All employees must be fully vaccinated unless they
have requested and been approved for an exemption based on a
recognized medical reason, a sincerely held religious belief, or a
pre-approved, 100% remote work agreement. Fully vaccinated means
having received one dose of a single dose COVID -19 vaccine
(Johnson & Johnson) or both doses of a two-dose COVID -19
vaccination series (Moderna and Pfizer).
As a prospective and/or a new employee at UNMC , you will be/are
required to comply with the UNMC's vaccination protocol.
Non-faculty new hires, rehires and transfers will have five (5)
days from the date of hire to provide proof of partial or full
vaccination or to request a medical or religious exemption.
Non-faculty new hires, rehires and transfers with proof of partial
vaccination may have up to thirty-five (35) days from the hire date
to be in full compliance with this policy. Non-faculty new hires,
rehires and transfers who receive a denial of a request for medical
or religious exemption will be given five (5) business days from
exemption denial notification date to provide proof of compliance
with this policy. Non-faculty new hires, rehires and transfers with
no approved exemption who fail to comply with this policy will be
separated.

opportunity Position Summary This position will perform Mechanical
Engineering design and construction
management services for the University of Nebraska Medical Center.
The University is a prominent educational campus and world class
research facility that includes more than 60 buildings, totaling
more than 8 million square feet which serves over 6000 faculty,
students and staff. This position has responsibility for
maintaining the institutional quality of both the existing
facilities as well as the new facilities. This position is
responsible for project scope compliance, design management,
schedule, budget management and life cycle costing, ensuring
coordination between design disciplines, both internal and third
party, through extensive plan, specification and submittal review.
This position will also monitor the administration of contracts for
construction, with emphasis on budget, schedule, and quality
control. This position will work closely with University clients as
well as with associated Clinic and Hospital entities that reside in
University buildings to ensure that all projects meet the standards
of design and construction established by the University.

Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required Education: Bachelor's degree or equivalent If any degree
major/training is required, please specify the type. (NOTE:
Concentration and minors are not equivalent to a major) Mechanical
or Architectural Engineering with mechanical focus

Required Experience 4 years If any experience is required, please
specify what kind of experience: Mechanical or architectural
engineering design field as a building HVAC systems design
engineer
(Will consider eight years related education/experience)
Required License Yes If yes, what is the required
licensure/certification? Valid driver's license.
Professional Engineer (PE) licensure in mechanical engineering or
ability to receive within 12 months.
Required Computer Applications: Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word
Required Other Computer Applications: Required Additional
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Excellent knowledge of
construction bid specifications, documents, costs, schedules,
building products and finish materials.
- Experience with building infrastructure HVAC systems
- Familiarity with all Federal, State, and Local Codes and
Ordinances pertinent to facilities planning, design, construction,
and maintenance of Mechanical Systems.
- Good Budget and Accounting skills
- High level of initiative and ability to work independently
- Ability to coordinate, and train staff, including organizing,
prioritizing, and scheduling work assignments.
- Knowledge of project management principles and practices.
- Good communication and presentation skills.
- Strong leadership skills and negotiation skills.
Preferred Education: Master's degree or equivalent If any
degree/training is preferred, please specify the type: Mechanical
or Architectural Engineering with emphasis in building mechanical
systems
Preferred Experience: Project management and/or construction
administration of building mechanical
system installations.
Preferred License: Yes If yes, what is the preferred
licensure/certification?: Professional Engineer (PE) licensure in
