We are seeking a Utility Engineer to join our growing team.
Our Utility Engineer will report to the Utility Manager, Engineering, and is responsible for review of utility installation submittals. Utility Engineer will review utility engineering design and construction work plans to ensure that they comply with American Railway Engineering Maintenance Association (AREMA) and all railroad standards.
Primary Duties:

  • Review submitted documentation to ensure third-party designs that impact Railroad Rights of Way (ROW) are in compliance with all Railroad Executed agreements and AREMA recommended practices and individual host Railroad engineering design criteria and specifications.
  • Identify locations of proposed work by milepost and stationing along railroad track alignments using valuation maps and railroad GIS systems.
  • Maintain a clear understanding of existing and new utility occupancy agreements.
  • Maintain a clear understanding of AREMA recommended practices and individual host Railroad engineering design criteria and Railroad Specification standards relevant to utility occupancies.
  • Conduct meetings with applicants to go over Railroad engineering design criteria and specifications related to the applicant's utility installation plans.
  • Conduct limited field observations on project sites before, during, and after construction to verify existing site conditions and conformance of the work with permitting and agreement requirements.
  • Work closely with RailPros project managers, Real Estate Specialists, and the protection services team to execute project deliverables. Qualifications
    Required Qualifications:
    • Sufficient education, training, and experience to demonstrate the knowledge and ability to successfully perform the essential functions of the position.
    • Development of the required knowledge and abilities is typically obtained through but not limited to:
    • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, or related field.
    • 0- 2 years of practical experience.
    • Must possess effective written and verbal communication.
