SUMMARY DESCRIPTION OF WORK
Plans fund-raising strategy and carries out specific projects
relative to Heartland Family Service special events. Identifies
potential sponsors and settles on the appropriate targets for
funding relative to Heartland Family Service special events. Both
alone or with other agency personnel, approaches individuals,
corporate and foundation officials and negotiates the terms of
their support to the agency through special events. Builds
relationships and works with a wide range of internal and external
customers; meets deadlines; juggles multiple events; identifies,
cultivates and stewards donors and volunteers; takes high
initiative and responsibility for identifying, planning and
completing specialized projects.
Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with
some evening and weekend hours.
Compensation: $43,000 to $45,500
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
*Plans and implements agency's special events to meet and exceed
fundraising and cultivation goals. Events include but are not
limited to the Strike a Chord Gala in Council Bluffs, Safe Haven
Golf Tournament, Giving Tuesday and assisting with Do Good Days.
Assists as needed with planning and implementation of the Carnival
of Love Gala.
*Identification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of
corporate sponsors and donors required.
*Identification, cultivation and stewardship of community members
to serve on advisory committees in cooperation with the Southwest
Iowa Advisory Committee and the Sarpy County Advisory
*Evaluates and reports on successes and challenges of special event
initiatives. Identify and implement modifications and improvements
for special event initiatives, including but not limited to systems
to improve revenue, number of stakeholders, visibility and
*Maintains management records and statistical reporting for special
events and maintains event process and procedure
Serves as HFS staff liaison to the Sarpy County Advisory Committee
and Southwest Iowa Advisory Committee, including member
recruitment, retention, and engagement; committee programming; and
administrative support. Assists as needed in cultivating and
maintaining the agency relationship with the Heartland Family
Service Friends Guild.
Maintains accurate data entry for projects and special events.
Communicates frequently and consistently with internal and external

Ability to work with all agency staff, including program area staff
and volunteers, in a collaborative and cooperative manner.
Ability to plan, manage, organize and implement projects to meet
and exceed agency's fundraising goals.
