Job Description:
Children's is growing quickly and hiring a Patient Safety
Project Manager to be responsible for developing, implementing, and
sustaining patient safety programs in collaboration with Solutions
for Patient Safety. Essential Functions/Competencies Project
Management
- Works collaboratively with project stakeholders to develop a
comprehensive project plan. Project plans will include Scope,
Schedule, Cost, Anticipated Outcomes, Organization and
Communications, Staffing, Risk and Issue Management, and Change
Management.
- Perform project planning. Create, build, and update project
schedules, project charters, project plans, status reports, and
work breakdown structures.
- Foresee potential barriers in projects and communicate
accordingly.
- Facilitate and lead project meetings as necessary.
- Implement and manage project changes and interventions to
achieve desired project outcomes.
- Collect, analyze, and display data demonstrating project
performance, using appropriate tools and techniques to project
evaluations and assessment of results.
- Influence others and move toward a common vision or goal.
- Identifies and engages key stakeholders for pathway development
and serves as a liaison with other departments to ensure successful
pathway implementation. Program manager for the organizations
participation in Solutions for Patient Safety (SPS)
- Functions as a facilitator, mentor, and resource to each of the
Hospital-acquired condition (HAC) workgroups throughout the
organization and their liaison to SPS
- Actively participates in SPS webinars, conferences, and shares
with organization as appropriate
- Oversees the collection of bundle reliability data through
K-Cards and analyzes results to drive improvements
- Submit monthly HAC and culture outcomes & process data to
SPS
- Maintains SPS data integrity and ensure data sources are
consistent including the Quality & Patient Safety scorecard
- Co-chair of the HAC Oversight Committee preparing agendas and
presentations Coordinates system-wide patient safety initiatives
and safety events
- Act as a change agent to lead, facilitate, and support staff to
create and sustain a culture of high reliability to focus on
elimination of preventable harm
- Supports initiatives to create a culture of patient safety
using transparency of information
- Serves as a resource for employees, leadership, and medical
staff for patient safety improvement initiatives
- Lead culture improvement projects such as healthcare
disparities in collaboration with SPS
- Incorporates evidence-based practices into all patient safety
initiatives including establishment of bundles and checklists
- Conducts safety rounds to inquire about safety concerns with
the front-line staff
- Educate hospital and medical staff on patient safety and error
prevention
- Function as project manager for patient safety work guided by
SPS in the Ambulatory setting
- Review and analyze safety events from RLDatix and participate
in weekly huddle and Daily Safety Brief KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND
ABILITIES:
- Strong clinical knowledge and background
- Knowledge of the basic principles of performance
improvement
- Knowledge of methods and mechanisms of using data to evaluate
safety and performance
- Knowledge of the relationship between variation and
outcome
- Knowledge of content expert in safety science and performance
improvement concepts
- Knowledge of computer programs including word processing,
graphics, spreadsheet, presentations
- Familiar with a variety of the fields concepts, practices, and
procedures
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Strong presenter/educator skills

- Strong facilitator skills
- Must demonstrate positive interpersonal relationship skills

AND EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelors degree in Nursing or healthcare related field from an
accredited college or university required, masters degree
preferred
- Minimum three years clinical experience required, preferably in
pediatrics
- Minimum three years of experience in healthcare-related
performance/process improvement required CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURE
REQUIREMENTS:
- Certification in Patient Safety preferred, required within 2
years
- Six Sigma Green required within 2 years, or equivalent
- Current and valid Nebraska RN license/RN Compact license
