This position is a hybrid work schedule located in Omaha, NE. This
position is not available for fully remote.
Serves as Information Systems Manager responsible for managing,
directing and making daily decisions on various data and software
systems developed and used by the primary group operations.
Responsible for participating in and overseeing the research,
development, infrastructure, testing, delivery and maintenance of
the data processes and software systems. Responsible for the
supervision, growth and development of various levels of employees
within the Data Warehouse department including developers, BA/QA
team members, and front-line managers. Holds regular meetings
dedicated to the co-creation and maintenance of goals along with
helping employees achieve their full potential.
Required:
Employee Engagement and Development
Supervises front-line managers and technical members of the Data
Warehouse by providing regular guidance on non-technical topics and
facilitating training on technical topics. Collaborates with other
managers within the department to understand employees' performance
and areas where growth may be needed. Regularly communicates with
employees and provides direct and actionable feedback on their work
and maintains weekly one-on-ones to help employees achieve success.
Responsible for the engagement, growth, and development of
employees. Holds regular meetings dedicated to the co-creation and
maintenance of goals along with helping employees achieve their
full potential. Leverages regular communication to gain an
understanding of employee's strengths, motivations, etc. to create
short and long-term development goals and plans. Identifies and
articulates value of each individual and their contributions.
Mentors employees by providing best practices on topics such as
goal-setting, time management, communication, etc. Establishes and
maintains clear expectations for roles and ensures
accountability.
Data Warehouse
Serves as Information Systems Manager for the Data Warehouse
responsible for managing, directing and making daily decisions on
various data processes and software systems developed and used by
the business for operational purposes. Responsible for
participating and overseeing the research, development,
infrastructure, testing, delivery and maintenance of the data
processes and software systems related to the Data Warehouse.
Identifies problems, researches potential solutions, makes
decisions regarding necessary changes, and evaluates the
programming language and coding approach to use in data processes
and software products. Makes development decisions and determines
priorities within authority for coding new products and for
revising and updating existing software applications.
ETL (Extract, Transform, & Load) Processes
Serves as Information Systems Manager responsible for managing,
directing and making daily decisions on data pipelines and ETL
processes. Responsible for monitoring the effectiveness,
redundancy, scalability and security of the various systems
contained in the data infrastructure. Troubleshoots data and
software problems and makes recommendations for solving difficult
problems to senior management. Such effort requires a broad
knowledge of the Company's technologies, business rules as well as
the ever-changing information technology world.
Management
Designs activities of unit personnel in determining work
procedures, issuing written and oral instructions, analyzing and
resolving work problems, and assisting employees in solving work
problems. Supervises the training of unit personnel. Interviews job
candidates and initiates or recommends personnel actions including
hiring, promotions, transfers, discharges, disciplinary measures,
performance appraisals, salary adjustments, and staffing
levels.
Internal Software Applications
Directs staff in the design, programming, maintenance, and
implementation of various Company software technologies (ex. Upload
of data to the Mainframe, Large Accounts Pricing System, Company
Scorecards for internal and external use, OFAC, WarehouseAssist,
etc.). Identifies problems, researches potential solutions, makes
decisions regarding necessary changes, and evaluates the
programming language and coding approach to use. Directs staff and
works through senior team members and other business leaders to
affect ongoing changes including new applications, product
conversions, and substantial product enhancements.
Technical Product and Project Leadership and Management
Leads and mentors others in the programming and maintenance of
company software products. Develops practical development plans and
timelines with product owners, development managers, tech leads,
project managers, business analysts, product testers, software
developers and others. Accurately estimates resource need and
timeline of projects. Communicates progress and status regularly to
senior management and other interested parties.
Technology and System Evolution and Innovation
Analyzes and identifies inefficiencies or problems within data
processes and software applications, solves problems, and
determines need for changes to enhance performance or capabilities
of the systems. Analyzes and directs others in the programming
efforts relating to data connectivity between various software
products allowing for better, more efficient information movement
and availability. Participates in the research and evaluation
process of new and emerging technologies to identify where new
computer applications and software would provide better information
and/or make workflow easier and more efficient.
Business and Data Liaison
Serves as primary data liaison working with areas internal and
external to the Company including business managers, Underwriting,
Finance, Executive, Marketing, Agents, Claims, etc. to develop
business reports needed in daily operations. Establishes
appropriate controls, data gathering, and quality checking
mechanisms to fulfill report needs. Oversees communication with
outside vendors, state regulatory representatives, internal product
owners, subject matter experts, underwriters, other managers, and
programmers to understand, troubleshoot, and resolve complex
problems.
Data and Application Integrity
Oversees testing efforts for data processes and software
applications and connectivity between systems. Responsible for
reasonable product quality and maintenance standards for data
pipelines and software products. Directs Quality Assurance team
members on the creation, monitoring, and best practices related to
various data validation approaches (regression, automation, etc.)
of the data warehouse and related applications. Designs and
develops methods and procedures to verify the integrity of data
solutions such as Business Intelligence Tools, Scorecards, Agency
Visit reports, monthly/weekly/daily reports, data transfer
applications, etc. Ensures adequate logging and reporting process
are developed and maintained to ensure data quality.
Additional Duties and Responsibilities:
Performs related duties as situation dictates such as participating
in special projects, etc.
Actively develops management, leadership, and technical skills by
regularly participating in company-led training sessions, watching
e-Learning content, reading articles, etc. Brings new ideas for
best practices in leadership, management, and technology to other
managers for review and implementation.
