- Seeking a Senior Water Resources Engineer/Project Manager to focus on management of projects related to transportation (including freight rail and DOT) and water resources clients. Duties include project and team management, marketing, and business development. Successful candidate will be responsible for growing and managing an existing hydrology/hydraulics and environmental permitting program. More specific responsibilities include overall program management, project and task-level management activities, as well as project engineering, design, and planning in the development and analysis of water resources projects. Duties may include: review of hydrologic and hydraulic modeling results to assess project impacts to floodplains; conduct analyses to develop alternatives, design options, or recommendations for water resource projects; assist in the preparation of reports; and collect, assimilate, and present data in technical and non-technical reports. Prospective candidate should have familiarity with federal, state, and local environmental permitting, including floodplain development permitting and Section 404 of the Clean Water Act. Individual should be able to work independently as well as plan, organize, and assist groups of small to medium size teams of professionals and technicians. Successful candidate will be directly responsible for strategic clients, projects, and project staffing. They will also be expected to develop and implement HDR's technology, standards, project delivery practices, equipment, tools, and associated training programs for the successful execution of project work. A strong understanding of the freight railroad market and how projects are sequenced is desired. This position could be full time or part-time (30 hours per week) based on candidate preference. Qualifications Required Qualifications

  • BS Degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline required. MS Preferred.
  • PE required.
  • 10+ years project and/or program management related experience focused on water resources; this must include both experience and strong working relationships with railroads and municipalities.
  • Candidate should have excellent marketing and business development skills
  • Experience in water resources planning, hydrology/hydraulics, and drainage/flood control design, regional and state design criteria and water resources permitting requirements. -
  • Must have excellent writing, communication, and organizational skills and be able to manage multiple projects, resource loading, and budgets.
  • Experience with field data collection focused on water resources and linear transportation applications.
  • Preferred hydrologic and hydraulic modeling and software including experience with: HEC-RAS (1D & 2D), HEC-HMS, and GIS platforms.
  • Must be a highly motivated self-starter.
