Job Description:
Children s Hospital & Medical Center, with the University of
Nebraska College of Medicine, is currently recruiting Pediatric
Cardiologists: Heart Failure/Transplant. Children s is a vibrant,
free-standing pediatric teaching hospital and Nebraska s only
full-service pediatric specialty health care center focused on
extraordinary clinical care, education, clinical outcomes, basic
science and translational research, and advocacy. The hospital has
embarked on transformational programmatic and physical growth to
address our local, regional, national and global patient care. The
hospital has a Level IV Regional NICU, Level II Pediatric Trauma
Center, Specialized Clinical Pediatric Services, and 24/7 Pediatric
Intensivists. We have 50+ Specialty Clinics, 200+ Specialists, 14
Satellite Offices, multiple Pediatric Fellowship programs, and is
Magnet Certified. Our new campus expansion has resulted in 230+
beds with expansion to the Cardiac Care Unit, Newborn Intensive
Care Unit, Fetal Care Center and Fetal Surgery, Infant MRI, full
urology support with new urodynamic suite, Pediatric Intensive Care
Unit, and new operating rooms, one which will have intraoperative
MRI and navigational system. The expansion will also provide new
facilities to support education and clinical and outcomes research.
The Cardiac Care Unit is a door to door acuity adaptable care
model, providing care for the cardiac patient from admission to
discharge, for all ages of patients. The admissions can range from
general medial cardiac admissions to post-operative surgical
patients requiring ECMO, VAD, CRRT and Transplant. The Dr. C.C. and
Mabel L. Criss Heart Center at Children s Hospital & Medical Center
provides care for patients of all ages, including fetuses,
newborns, toddlers, preteens, adolescents, and adults with
congenital heart disease (ACHD). Our multidisciplinary team treats
the full range of pediatric and adult congenital heart conditions.
Currently ranked in the nation, Children s has been ranked as one
of America s top children s hospitals for cardiology and heart
surgery by U.S. News & World Report every year since 2011. The
Heart Center is a certified Aetna Institute of Excellence for
pediatric congenital heart surgery. The Division of Pediatric
Cardiology is recruiting an individual to join the heart failure
and transplant team. Children s heart transplant program was
certified by UNOS in 2013 and has successfully performed 34 heart
transplants. The Cardiology and Cardiac Surgery Divisions consist
of 20 cardiologists, three cardiac surgeons, and 14 advanced
practice providers. Candidates will be expected to build on this
clinical base as well as grow the innovation and academic
components of the division. Children s Hospital s growth and
transformation creates opportunity for innovation, education, and
research. The Child Health Research Institute has been established
and will provide start-up funding and infrastructure for clinical,
basic science, or translational research. We seek individuals with
strong emotional and social intelligence. Successful candidates
will hold a faculty appointment at the University of Nebraska
