The Division of Trauma-Critical Care Surgery at Creighton
University Medical Center and CHI Health is recruiting a BC/BE
Trauma-Critical Care Surgeon to be part of our vibrant ACS
designated Level I Trauma-Critical Care Surgery program and expand
our clinical, surgical, research, and educational activities in
conjunction with our Department of Surgery.

programs. We are the Flagship University Medical Center with a high
procedure volume and excellent outcomes - Supported by a highly
ranked team of Seven Trauma-Critical Care Surgeons. Our program is
part of our integrated, multispecialty system, working with every
member of the Trauma team committed to the highest outcome of every
procedure we perform. This opportunity is ripe for a busy surgeon
to join our Department of Surgery and all of its domains in
partnership with outstanding colleagues and forward-thinking and
dynamic academic and business leadership.
In addition, our program is further augmented by our many other
resources associated with our academic institution, including a
Research Department within the Division of Trauma-Critical Care
Surgery.
Resident activity with the Department of Surgery is highly engaging
at our University Medical Center and Level I Trauma Center.
- Working in an academic and teaching environment educating
Creighton University's surgical residents and medical students and
conducting research in collaboration with scientists within Common
Spirit and Creighton University School of Medicine.
- Reporting to the Creighton & CHI Health Division Chief of
Trauma-Critical Care Surgery
- Additional Department of Surgery wide leadership opportunities
are also available based on the applicant's experience and track
record (e.g. Vice Chair of Research)
- Seven (7) Days per week of APP support
- Three academic teams - Trauma, Surgical ICU and Acute Care
Surgery with residents assigned to each team.
- Maximum five (5) 24 hour call nights per month
- Routinely 13 work days per month

Responsibilities
- Patient Care:
- Diagnose and treat various medical conditions.
- Develop and implement comprehensive treatment plans.
- Conduct thorough medical examinations and histories.
- Communication:
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare
teams.
- Provide clear and concise medical information.
- Foster a collaborative and patient-centered approach to
healthcare.
- Documentation:
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records.
- Document medical findings, diagnoses, and treatment plans.
- Ensure compliance with coding and billing regulations.
- Diagnostic Procedures:
- Order and interpret diagnostic tests, such as lab work and
imaging.
- Perform procedures as needed
- Collaborate with specialists for further diagnostic
evaluation.
- Team Collaboration:
- Collaborate with nurses, specialists, and other healthcare
professionals.
- Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings and case
discussions.
- Provide consultative services to other healthcare
providers.
- Quality Improvement:
- Participate in quality assurance and improvement
initiatives.
- Review and analyze clinical outcomes for continuous
improvement.
- Implement changes to enhance patient care and safety.
- Compliance:
- Adhere to ethical and legal standards in medical practice.
- Stay informed about healthcare regulations and compliance
requirements.
- Participate in quality audits to ensure adherence to
standards.
- Continuous Learning:
- Stay abreast of medical advancements and best practices.
- Participate in ongoing medical education and training.
- Contribute to the development of clinical protocols and
guidelines. Qualifications
- American Board Certified or Board Eligible in Specified Area of
Medical Specialty
- A valid and unrestricted state medical license or
license-eligible Pay Range
$269.00-$269.00/Hour
