  • Facility in Eastern Nebraska is looking for several traveling Med-Surg nurses. The hospital is looking for both day and night shift coverage. The shift will be twelve hours.
    • Job Requirements
    • Shifts & Scheduling: Travelers will be scheduled. Will approve a limited amount of block scheduling.
    • Weekend Requirements: Every other weekend.
    • Holiday Requirements: 1 major, 1 minor.
    • Floating Requirements: Yes to other medical surgical areas or units with MedSurg patients waiting for a MedSurg bed.

        • Department: Med Tele / Ortho RN - 4th Floor North & South.
          • Additional Details
          • ACLS Preferred, BLS; Department: Med Tele / Ortho RN - 4th Floor North & South.
          • Common diagnosis / Types of patients: MedSurg/Tele- joint replacements, fractures, colon resections, COPD exacerbation, prostatectomy, cellulitis, sepsis, ortho trauma, GI bleeds, pneumonia, failure to thrive.
          • Are RN's required to titrate drips?: Heparin, lidocaine, and ketamine.
          • Common titratable &/or set rate drips: PCA pumps.
          • Is there a Charge Nurse on each shift? Does the charge nurse take an assignment?: Yes.
          • Are there nurse aids/patient care techs on this unit? Ratios? Duties?: Yes- 1:10-20.
          • Are there Tele/Monitor Techs on this unit? Are RN's required to read their own strips? What brand are the tele monitors?: Tele techs will interpret, RNs should have some tele awareness.
          • Scrub Color/Dress Code/Scrubs Provided?: RNs: Navy Blue.
          • How many shifts of unit/department specific orientation?: 2 days.
          • Additional Notes: Have mechanical lifts in every other room, Big focus on hourly rounding and responsiveness, This unit typically has multiple discharged and admissions in one day- a nurse is successful on this unit when they can manage the business of the day, have good attendance, are a team player, friendly, compassionate, and cares about patients first. They serve patients of all cultures on this unit including Spanish, Karen, Burmeese.
          • Radius Rule: 50 miles AND candidates may not be full time, part time, or PRN with any facility associated with CommonSpirit, including CHI and/or Dignity.
          • RTO needed upfront (7 or less days per 13 week contract). Additional RTO will not be approved, including after submissions.
