Position TravelNurseSource is working with Cynet Health to find a
qualified Neuro RN in Omaha, Nebraska, 68124! Job Title: Registered
Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Medical Surgical Duration: 13
weeks Shift: 12 Hour Nights Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum
2 years License: Required Certifications: BLS, NIHSS Must-Have:
Ability to pass skills exam during orientation Description: RN's
are required to pass a skills exam during orientation. This is an
open book exam with all necessary resources provided. A minimum
score of 90% is required to pass; failure to achieve this will
result in termination. There is a radius rule of 50 miles;
candidates may not be employed full-time, part-time, or PRN with
any associated facilities. Artificial nails are prohibited in all
patient care departments. Refusal to remove artificial nails will
lead to termination of contract. Drivers' licenses will be required
and will be used to determine candidates' distance from the
facility. Travel experience is preferred but strong candidates
without it will be considered. Candidates must have clean
background checks. This department cares for a variety of medical
surgical patients including those with neurological conditions.
Common patient diagnoses include stroke, stable neurological
deficits, post-neurosurgery recovery, joint replacements,
fractures, COPD exacerbations, and infections. Nurse-patient ratios
are typically 1:5-6. Nurses will be required to titrate drips
including heparin, lidocaine, and ketamine. There is a charge nurse
on every shift who may take an assignment. Patient care technicians
assist in the unit with a typical ratio of 1:10-20. Telemetry
technicians will interpret strips; nurses should have basic tele
awareness. Shifts are scheduled with some flexibility for block
scheduling. Every other weekend and 2-3 holidays from Thanksgiving
to New Year are required. Floating to other medical surgical areas
is expected when necessary. Scrub color for nurses is navy blue.
The unit utilizes mechanical lifts in every other room, emphasizing
hourly rounding and responsiveness. Nurses will face a routine of
multiple admissions and discharges each day. Success on this unit
requires managing daily business, good attendance, teamwork, and a
compassionate approach to patient care. The unit serves a diverse
