Experience: Two years of Sterile Processing Experience required
License: N/A Certifications: Certification on hire or within 6
months of hire required Must-Have: Current BCLS certification upon
hire or ability to obtain one within 90 days of hire Description:
Supervises the day-to-day operations in sterile processing. Directs
and coaches staff on processes and regulations. Works alongside
staff to decontaminate instrumentation, assemble or package
supplies, disinfect, and/or sterilize reusable equipment. Assists
in patient care throughout nursing areas. Responsible for ensuring
new staff have proper orientation to the department. Actively
participates in interviewing and hiring needs. Completes employee
performance reviews and necessary corrective actions. Creates a
departmental schedule that ensures smooth workflow. Provides
functional guidance when needed and encourages continuing education
and certification for staff. Promotes a culture of competency that
is always improving. Identifies employee engagement opportunities
and assists with action planning. Mentors staff in interpreting
regulations and standards. Coordinates and evaluates educational
sessions for staff in sterile processing. Ensures manufacturers'
recommendations for cleaning and reprocessing instruments are
accessible to staff. Communicates process changes to appropriate
personnel. Ensures the team has the appropriate tools and resources
for outstanding service. Recognizes needs and informs leadership of
operational issues promptly. Creates a positive work environment
through mentoring and collaboration with team members. Complies
with all policies and procedures and guides team members in
compliance. Assumes responsibility for continued growth in
competencies and involvement in quality of care projects. Supports
evidence-based practice and incorporates best practices into daily
routines. Participates in mandatory education and unit meetings.
Complies with all safety goals, infection prevention, and risk
management policies. Communicates effectively with all team
members, physicians, and customers using clear verbal and legible
written communication. Demonstrates flexibility in meeting the
needs of the unit as a team member. Stays current with standards
related to cleaning, decontamination, disinfection, and
sterilization of reusable products. Coordinates processes that
comply with current standards in cleaning and sterilization.
Utilizes resources from regulatory bodies to inform practices.
Provides input into departmental policies related to infection
control and safety. Implements performance activities and leads
improvements by staff. Monitors inventory levels to ensure adequate
supplies and control costs. Participates in maintaining systems and
processes for quality and performance improvement. Provides ideas
for improvement and collaborates with management on initiatives.
Cleans, decontaminates, assembles, and sterilizes reusable
equipment and medical supplies. Prepares, loads, and monitors
sterilizers for operation. Demonstrates the ability to perform all
duties required by sterile processing standards. Requirements
