Pay: $65 per hour Shift Information: Nights Start Date: 3/2/2026 About the Position Registered Nurse - PCU – UHC Staffing Registered Nurse - PCU Location: Omaha, NE Start Date: 03-02-2026 End Date: 06-01-2026 Contract Type: Travel Contract Shift Type: Rotating 12-hour shifts: 6:30 AM - 7:00 PM (day) and 6:30 PM - 7:00 AM NOC (primarily nights). Schedule rotates across the week (includes every other weekend and every third holiday). Roles & Responsibilities Deliver high-quality PCU/stepdown nursing care to adult and geriatric patients with compassion and clinical confidence Monitor telemetry and continuous monitoring systems, interpreting data and escalating changes promptly Titrate and manage drips and set-rate infusions (e.g., Cardizem, beta blockers, seizure meds) safely according to protocols Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including physicians, charge nurses, and techs to ensure coordinated patient care Perform continuous EEG monitoring support and manage seizure medication regimens when indicated Mentor and communicate effectively with patient care techs and aides to maintain appropriate patient ratios and smooth workflow Document care accurately in EPIC and complete required competencies and orientation assessments Qualifications Active RN license eligible for practice in Nebraska Minimum 2 years of recent nursing experience (stepdown/PCU, telemetry, or similar acute care preferred) Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS (must be current at time of submission) Demonstrated experience with titration of drips and telemetry monitoring Comfortable using EPIC charting system Valid driver's license required at time of submission and to meet radius rule Strong critical thinking and communication skills; ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment Education Active Registered Nurse license required; BSN not required Knowledge & Skills PCU/Stepdown nursing and adult/geriatric acute care knowledge Telemetry and continuous cardiac monitoring interpretation Medication titration and management of common drips and seizure medications Continuous EEG monitoring familiarity Clinical documentation in EPIC Effective teamwork, clinical prioritization, and critical thinking under pressure Clear communication with patients, families, and interdisciplinary team members Benefits A supportive team that values YOU — join a fast-paced PCU where teamwork matters Guaranteed 36 hours per week for reliable scheduling and work-life rhythm Comprehensive orientation: onboarding week plus 1-2 days of unit-specific training to set you up for success Licensure and certification assistance guidance so you can stay focused on care, not paperwork Travel reimbursement and housing support options for contract nurses to make your move easier Paid time to recharge between assignments and respectful scheduling practices Professional growth opportunities working with complex adult and geriatric patients in a stepdown setting A workplace that prioritizes safety and clinical best practices — strong policies around infection control and clinical competencies Travel Perks: Explore Omaha, NE Omaha is a delight for travel clinicians: explore the world-class Henry Doorly Zoo & Aquarium, stroll the charming Old Market district with shops and great dining, walk the scenic Bob Kerrey Pedestrian Bridge over the Missouri River, enjoy the peaceful Lauritzen Gardens and the cultural exhibits at the Joslyn Art Museum.
