Job Description:
Summary GENERAL SUMMARY: Performs interventional and diagnostic
x-ray procedures under the supervision of a qualified physician.
Uses radiologic technology and techniques to assist in the
diagnosis of patient medical problems for patients throughout the
age continuum. PRINCIPAL JOB FUNCTIONS: *Commits to the mission,

*Assists interventional radiologist in all types of interventional
radiology procedures performed with angiography, fluoroscopy, CT,
OR, and ultrasound. *Practices radiation and laser safety for
patients, staff, and self. *Uses sterile technique as required.
*Optimally demonstrates patient anatomy through proper positioning
and selection of technical factors. *Functions in the first scrub
role by preparing, organizing, and anticipating needed instruments,
supplies and equipment for safe patient care for interventional
radiology procedures. *Competently operates all interventional
radiology equipment and support systems to include EMR, Scheduling
System and PACS. *Utilizes hospital and department computer
systems, files, and PACS to review patient history and to provide
accurate documentation of studies to include patient clinical
information. *Properly cares for and images patients of all ages;
maintains patient confidentiality. *Coordinates exams within the
department and with other departments to provide expedient and
complete care; communicates with medical staff, coworkers,
patients, families, and other hospital staff to assure quality
patient care; shares pertinent information regarding patient
conditions with physicians, nurses and other professional staff as
needed for patient care. *Handles telephone calls for scheduling,
coordination, or questions with courtesy and accuracy. Provides
information to patients and families to reduce anxiety and convey
and attitude of acceptance, sensitivity, and caring. *Participates
in the departments quality improvement plan as required. *Cleans,
disinfects and maintains equipment as necessary; notifies
supervisor of equipment problems and calls appropriate service
vendors as needed. *Keeps work area properly supplied. Advances
work knowledge by participating in continuing education inservices,
reading periodicals/literature and seeking ongoing development
opportunities; attends departmental, educational and hospital
committee meetings as required. Assists with departmental
orientation and student clinical education as directed. *Accesses
and administers drugs and biologicals that are pertinent to
essential job functions in accordance with Medical Center
procedures. Maintains professional growth and development through
seminars, workshops, and professional affiliations to keep abreast
of latest trends in field of expertise. Participates in meetings,
committees and department projects as assigned. Performs other
related projects and duties as assigned . REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE,
SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Maintains clinical competency as required for
the unit including but not limited to age-specific competencies
relative to patients growth and developmental needs, annual skill
competency verification and mandatory education and competencies.
Knowledge of computer hardware equipment and software applications
relevant to work functions. Knowledge of radiologic positioning,
use of technical factors, and radiation safety practices. Knowledge
of federal and state regulations related to radiography. Knowledge
of anatomy and pathophysiology related to interventional radiology
procedures. Knowledge of techniques and supplies required for
interventional procedures. Skill in operating radiologic equipment,
image capture devices, PACS, and other related systems. Ability to
react appropriately and perform work effectively under stressful
and emergent situations. Ability to work in a fast-paced
environment related to changing patient conditions. Ability to
communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. Ability to
prioritize work demands and work with minimal supervision. Ability
to effectively interact with patients, family, staff, and
physicians. Ability to care for diverse patients throughout the age
continuum. Ability to exercise courtesy and professionalism in the
work environment. Ability to practice proper body mechanics to
ensure personal and patient safety. Ability to maintain
confidentiality relevant to sensitive information. Ability to
maintain regular and punctual attendance. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Graduate from a school of radiologic technology with current
certification or eligibility for certification by the American
Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) required. Valid
Nebraska state medical radiographer license required. OTHER
CREDENTIALS / CERTIFICATIONS: Basic Life Support (CPR)
certification required. Bryan Health recognizes American Heart
Association (for healthcare professionals), American Red Cross (for
healthcare professionals) and the Military Training Network.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: (DOT) Characterized as medium work requiring
exertion of 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25
pounds of force frequently, and/or a greater than negligible up to
10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. May stand for long
periods of time wearing protective lead shielding, eye protection,
and sterile personal protective equipment.
