Roles & Responsibilities Provide high-acuity critical care to medical ICU patients (sepsis, respiratory failure, stroke, MI) with skill and compassion Manage ventilators and BiPAP therapy and collaborate with respiratory therapy for adjustment and troubleshooting Titrate vasopressors and sedation drips safely and according to protocol to stabilize patients Monitor and interpret cardiac strips and verify telemetry findings for timely interventions Document patient care accurately and efficiently in EPIC Stabilize patients for transfer when specialty care is needed and coordinate with receiving teams Work collaboratively with hospitalists, intensivists (in-house daytime/tele-medicine at night), and unit charge nurses Participate in unit-based orientation and demonstrate competency on skills assessments Qualifications Current, active RN license (eligible to submit for this facility) BLS, ACLS and NIHSS required at time of submission PALS and TNCC preferred (nice-to-have) Minimum ~2 years of ICU/critical care experience preferred Previous travel ICU experience preferred but not required Driver's license required at time of submittal (used for radius rule eligibility) Ability to pass orientation competency assessment (open-book skills exam; 90% pass required) Comfortable with 12-hour night shifts, every third weekend, and occasional float to PCU Education Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or BSN; BSN preferred but not required Completion of required certifications (BLS, ACLS, NIHSS) prior to start Knowledge & Skills Strong ventilator management skills and familiarity with troubleshooting vent alarms Experience with vasoactive drips, sedation agents, and drip titration Cardiac monitoring and strip interpretation proficiency Proficient EPIC charting and accurate documentation practices Experience with BiPAP/CPAP and high-flow therapies Ability to work independently on nights while collaborating with centralized tele-monitor techs Familiarity with Draeger monitors and centralized telemetry workflows Excellent critical thinking, prioritization, and acute patient assessment skills Benefits Comprehensive orientation (unit-specific ICU PCU shifts) to set you up for success Medical, dental & vision coverage options to keep you and your family healthy Licensure assistance and reimbursement for required certifications Paid time off to recharge between assignments Travel reimbursement and housing support for contract nurses A supportive team environment with dedicated charge nurses and collaborative hospitalists/intensivists Opportunities for skill growth in advanced critical care therapies (vents, drips, EPIC charting) Referral bonus program and professional development support Travel Perks: Explore Council Bluffs, IA Discover Council Bluffs and nearby Omaha during your off time: stroll across the scenic Bob Kerrey Pedestrian Bridge, explore the Old Market district's shops and restaurants, and visit the world-class Henry Doorly Zoo & Aquarium just across the river.
