registered nurse (RN) license and minimum 1 years Stepdown RN
experience required. Applicants who do not meet these
qualifications will not be considered. An opportunity is available
for experienced RNs with stepdown or general ICU/PCU skills to
provide specialized care in a dynamic cardiac and medical-surgical
combined unit. This contract position is based in Omaha, Nebraska,
focusing on patients requiring intermediate care, including
downgraded CVICU cases, thoracic support, EP, cath lab, and
structural heart care. Key Responsibilities: Deliver compassionate,
high-quality nursing care to PCU and ICU patients with varied
cardiac and vascular diagnoses such as CHF, A-fib RVR, and CVAs.
Administer and titrate critical drips including amiodarone,
nitroglycerin, nicardipine, epinephrine, and cardizem to manage
patient blood pressure effectively. Interpret telemonitor strips
and collaborate closely with hospitalists, intensivists,
cardiology, respiratory therapists, and patient care techs.
Maintain adherence to unit protocols including strict fingernail
policy and complete pass/fail clinical exams during orientation
with a minimum 90% score. Float as needed within similar acuity
levels and comply with manager-assigned scheduling. Qualifications
and Experience: Registered Nurse license with at least 1 year of
experience caring for stepdown or ICU/PCU patient populations.
Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required. Comfortable
working 48-hour shifts covering days (0630-1900) and nights
(1830-0700) with every other weekend rotation. Must reside within a
50-mile radius of Omaha and have no active work status at
CommonSpirit-affiliated facilities. Valid drivers license required
