A primary medical center in Eastern Nebraska is seeking dedicated PCU RNs with step-down experience for a 13-week contract opportunity. This role requires compassionate care for diverse adult patients, including oncology and trauma populations, in a 27-bed PCU/Med-Surg unit. Key Responsibilities Provide nursing care for oncology and trauma patients in a progressive care setting Manage a 1:4 nurse-to-patient ratio in PCU and 1:5 in Med-Surg during day shifts, with slightly higher ratios on nights Administer drips and medications including chemotherapy, heparin, Cardizem, and protonix, with training provided for titration of insulin and Cardizem Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including PT/OT, case management, social work, dieticians, and educators Utilize advanced monitoring technologies such as ventilators, CVP, arterial lines, Swan-Ganz catheters, ICP, and EV-1000 Participate in patient safety initiatives including hourly rounding and adhere to strict policies, such as artificial nail restrictions Float within similar care-level units as needed Qualifications & Desired Experience Current RN license with a minimum of 1 year PCU or oncology experience required; chemotherapy certification preferred but not mandatory BLS and ACLS certifications mandatory; NIHSS certification required Demonstrated ability to pass a skills-based exam with a minimum score of 90% during orientation Valid drivers license required to confirm residency within a 50-mile radius of the facility Previous experience with EPIC EMR preferred but not required Strong interpersonal skills and a team-oriented mindset highly valued Schedule 36 hours per week over 12-hour shifts (day or night) with self-scheduling options Weekend rotation every other weekend This contract position requires completion of a rapid turnaround orientation of 7 days or less and prohibits concurrent employment with any CommonSpirit-affiliated facilities.
