Job Description:
Full-time Description Summary: LPN/RN provides nursing/medical
care to all persons served by OU while ensuring quality and
excellence in care. They also support their peers offering guidance
and modeling leadership. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (The requirements
listed below are not intended to be an exhaustive list of all
duties, or responsibilities associated with this job.): Provide
direct medical care, medical evaluation, and medical consultation
for persons served including but not limited to: direct care,
observations, notifying physicians as needed, administering
medications, and incident report evaluation and follow-up.
Documentation of programs and services provided, using OU, state,
and federal standards, procedures, format, and/or software. Able to
update and maintain progress notes. Coordinate person served care
by insuring that physician’s orders are noted, carried out, and
followed up on. Perform the necessary administrative functions to
ensure proper documentation of charts, portable profiles, and up to
date information. Develop programs to teach and train persons
served how to support their own medical needs when possible. Work
with and teach residential staff how to meet the health care needs
of persons served. Perform nursing on-call duties. Complete
continuing education as required. Maintain and promote positive
relationships with coworkers, persons served, families, vendors,
and volunteers. Requirements Must be able to meet all
organizational, local, state, and federal licensing and training
requirements including but not limited to CPR, MANDT, and Mandatory
Reporting. Must be able to attend periodic staff meetings and
trainings after normal work hours and possibly weekends. Ability to
lift fifty (50) pounds to provide physical assistance as needed.
Must have a working knowledge of Microsoft Office. Must possess and
maintain a valid driver’s license and be willing to obtain a
chauffeurs license/endorsement. Professional status as a current
licensed nurse (RN) or (LPN) in the state of Iowa. The license must
be maintained.
