Join us, and BUILD YOUR WORLD.A Brief Summary of This Position: Valmont is seeking a Technology Business Analyst Intern to join the Valmont Infrastructure Services Team. The role of Technology Business Analyst is accountable for analyzing the inspection services markets to determine how and if potential technologies could provide a higher quality, efficient and more competitive means of rendering those services. This includes gathering market demand and technology resource data, and analyzing current methods of inspections in support of business cases, proposed projects, and systems requirements. Our ideal candidate has the ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously and translate findings into an actionable plan to implement the technologies. To support the role, the intern will have exposure to an array of Valmont Infrastructure Services Team technologies that include autonomous unmanned aerial vehicles, a spectrum of imagers, inertia measurement sensors, ultrasonic testing devices, and aerial robotics. The intern can expect to get hands on with artificial intelligence systems and databases that support analysis activities and field operations. In addition, the Technology Business Analyst Intern will work alongside key team members during system testing missions and product development meetings. Valmont's internship program mission is to provide a hands-on learning experience through project work, leadership development, job shadowing and interaction with senior leadership. Essential Functions:

  • Perform research tasks with a view to gather data pertaining to industry, company and customer trends
  • Review and analyze qualitative and quantitative data to uncover competition and industry information
  • Support the evaluation of services technology data assumptions and industry technology needs
  • Handle a range of project planning and coordination with internal stakeholders
  • Work with key business group leaders to identify and evaluate upcoming technology opportunities
  • Participate in Valmont ASCEND UAS training sessions
  • Responsible for completing and presenting a project outcome based on the work with the team leaders
  • Participate in internship activities scheduled throughout the summer (work, internship kick-off event, planned trips, recognition event, Senior Leadership interviews, Lessons Learned event, meetings, luncheons, meet & greets, etc.) Required Qualifications of Every Candidate (Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities):
    • Undergraduate or graduate level standing pursuing a Bachelor's degree or Master's degree in a relevant field, preferably with a background in technology or engineering
    • The ability to dedicate 20-25 hours a week starting June 2022
    • A strong working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and Power Point
    • Self-starter

      • Interactive group activities with intern peers Working Environment and Physical Efforts: Work is typically performed in an office setting. The incumbent is regularly required to sit for extended periods of time, as well as talk and listen on the phone and in personal conversations or meetings. Environment is fast paced and demanding most of the time. No travel requirements for this position. The employee frequently is required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms while working in the office with various files and forms and while working on the computer. The employee is occasionally required to move about the office. Incumbent must utilize proper ergonomic safeguards such as monitor height and positions, keyboard location and height and proper wrists rests. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds in working with large files, binders, and computer equipment.
