Heartland Family Service is the agency for you. SUMMARY DESCRIPTION
OF WORK The program attorney will work in conjunction with the
Domestic Violence Sexual Assault program to provide legal services
with issues related to protection orders and civil legal matters
for program clients. Compensation: between $56,800 and $71,858 per
year (based on years of experience)Work Schedule: Monday through

Responsibilities
- Manage a caseload to include scheduling initial and follow-up
appointments, manage court appearance schedule, etc.
- Supervise and work in partnership with legal assistant to
achieve prescribed program and client goals.
- Provide education and referral information to program advocates
working with victims involved with the civil legal system.
- Remain current on issues pertaining to domestic violence,
sexual assault, trafficking and other job-related topics.
- Work with the Program Director to develop and implement
protocols for addressing referrals, conflicts of interest, and
confidentiality.
- Provide direct representation to victims of domestic violence,
sexual assault and human trafficking seeking civil legal advice and
litigation including Protection Orders and other civil legal needs
the address a victim s need for safety, in addition to helping
victims navigate the criminal justice system.
- Collect and report statistical and program outcome data using
prescribed formats.
- Travel is required, included use of personal vehicle.
- Is able to work both independently, with little supervision,
and as a part of a team.
- Able to establish regularity and dependability in scheduling
all appointments and accuracy in reports and statistics.
- Displays a courteous and caring attitude at all times to the
clientele, volunteers, and visitors of the Agency.
- Abides by all specific program and Agency procedures, policies,
and requirements.
- Cooperates and collaborates with program area staff,
volunteers, and other Agency staff.
- Is dependable and punctual regarding scheduling and
attendance
- Able to evaluate program services and make
recommendations.
- Develops personal and program related skills through
participation in internal and external training opportunities
including printed material and audio and/or visual media.
- Creates, maintains, and shares as appropriate a dynamic
self-care plan.
- Strives to make connections between the agency and the larger
community whenever possible to contribute to the agency s ongoing
fundraising and friend-raising efforts

- Juris Doctorate Degree from an accredited law school
- Licensed to practice law in Nebraska
- Demonstrate knowledge of domestic violence, sexual assault,
stalking and human trafficking issues.
