reality.The Associate General Counsel is an attorney who provides
general corporate legal services and counsel, under the direction
of the General Counsel. Provides legal advice and support to the
General Counsel and directly to other representatives of the
company. Performs a regulatory compliance role with respect to
federal and state certification and various reporting requirements.
Does some coordination with outside counsel on certain matters at
the direction of General Counsel. Reviews and drafts legal
responses to requests for proposals, requests for information and
bid documentation. Drafts, reviews and negotiates contracts and
policies. Performs legal research and prepares research memoranda
as required.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Performs a
regulatory compliance role with respect to state and municipality
reporting obligations and compliance with federal and state system
certification requirements.Provides a legal supportive role to
General Counsel, Senior Management and other representatives of the
company.Performs legal reviews of all requests for proposals,
request for information and bid invitations from prospective
customers and drafts legal responses for inclusion by company
proposal center.Provides legal advice and counsel to ES&S
Management to minimize risk and prevent litigation against the
company.Monitors and keeps current on federal and state legislation
that could impact business operations.Demonstrates an extremely
high degree of initiative and organization in approach to work
duties, without the need for constant oversight or
instruction.Develops and maintains professional working
relationships with customers, outside legal counsel, vendors,
ES&S personnel and other outside
contacts/sources.Qualifications:Education: Juris Doctorate from an
accredited law school.Experience: At least 5-7 years' experience
including:Professional legal experience as an attorney practicing
private practice or in house counsel, with an emphasis on
corporate, transactional and contract matters.Must have experience
with FOIA (Freedom of Information Act)
requests.Competencies:Ability to provide effective legal
representation within time constraints.Excellent Verbal and written
communication skills.Excellent negotiation and interpersonal
skills.Outstanding organization, prioritization and time management
skills.Strong collaboration skills at all levels of the
organization.Proficient in use of Westlaw and other available
public and private databases to perform research.Proficient in use
of Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and
Excel.Licenses/Certifications Required: Law Degree; Currently
Licensed and in good standing with Nebraska State Bar.Supervisory
Responsibilities: This position has no supervisory
responsibilities, but does share a paralegal with General
