Ameritas is seeking a Director, Financial Reporting & Accounting to join the Accounting and Finance team. In this role, you will provide professional accounting management for the general financial reporting and accounting activities of the organization. You will provide leadership oversight for delivering and implementing the tools, resources, and completion of responsibilities for Financial Reporting and Accounting.

What you do

* Support and direct GAAP and STAT reporting and accounting for the company and subsidiaries * Manage the financial close process and partner with business areas to meet reporting deadlines * Lead financial modernization program for Core Accounting and Budget and Planning in new, cloud-based ERP system * Ensure adequacy of internal controls over financial reporting and compliance with Model Audit Rule (MAR) * Oversee the monitoring and implementing of new accounting guidance * Coordinate communications with external auditors, state regulators and third-party inquiries related to statutory accounting and other matters * Manage the integration of accounting and finance activities due to acquisitions * Develop a high performing team by promoting development, prioritizing the workload and implementing best practices

What you bring

* Bachelor’s in Accounting or Finance or equivalent work experience. CPA or MBA preferred * 7-10+ years of life and health insurance industry accounting experience * 4-7 years of leadership or management experience with a proven track record of developing and upskilling teams * Knowledge of GAAP and Statutory accounting principles * Prior experience with financial technology modernization and transformation * Ability to manage multiple responsibilities under challenging time frames * Strong collaborative, analytical and problem-solving skills * Highly motivated, proactive, detail oriented * Strong communication and executive presence capabilities
