Job Description Position Purpose: The Internal Communications Specialist works to ensure employees of Signature are kept informed and motivated. They do this by communicating through several channels, such as a staff intranet, email bulletins, social media and regular newsletters. They assist in establishing organizational messages and keeping staff informed of developments. In conjunction with senior leadership this position will help formulate Signature's internal response to crisis PR situations. This position reports to the Director of Organizational Experience. Essential Job Functions include the following (Other duties may be assigned)

  • Establish an internal communications strategy in conjunction with senior leadership
  • Ensure organizational initiatives and projects are successfully communicated to employees and stakeholders
  • Plan, edit and write content for a variety of internal communications mediums, such as a staff intranet, event calendars or regular email bulletin. You may also be required to work on the layout of content
  • Keep leadership abreast of progress and answer their questions
  • Storyboard or translate ideas to the creative team
  • Create compelling communication used for social media to communicate with staff internally
  • Draft messages or scripts from senior executives for presentation to employees in written or spoken form
  • Create and Ensure internal communications messages are consistent across all mediums and for different departments of the organization
  • Ensure internal communication messages are consistent with external communication messages
  • Respond to feedback from staff and adjust communications content accordingly
  • Handle the internal communication response to crisis situations which affect organizational perception and reputation
  • Advise senior executives of developments throughout the organization, either face to face or through regular written communication
  • Help build, improve and design future strategies related to improving culture, performance and return on the individual (ROI) General Areas of Accountability : The incumbent must conduct business and personal affairs in a manner that is always a credit to the company. Machines and Equipment : Must be able to effectively operate current computer system, presentation software and tools, Learning Management Systems, telephone system, and other office machines such as copier and fax machines. Physical Activity: Must be able to speak to individuals and teams, finger, grasp, feel, see, sit, hear, and speak. This position is sedentary in nature with minimal lifting requirements. WORKING CONDITIONS: Must work in an office environment that is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions such as heat, cold, or extreme noise. Routine periods of being on the phone utilizing a headset, sitting and data keying are required.
