Job Description:
Dynamic opportunity to join Boys Town in a newly created
position as a Safety Coordinator. In this role, you will oversee
the company safety compliance. Understand practices, implement and
provide training and education on OSHA, federal, state, and local
safety rules and regulations applicable to the company, its
employees, and its independent contractors. Helps set compliant
safety standards and procedures for the companys workforce, its
jobsites, and assists with ensuring they are carried out on a daily
basis. MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:
- Works to establish and administer the companys Safety Program.
- Conducts regular jobsite compliance inspections to ensure the
companys standards and procedures, as well as all applicable state,
federal and local safety regulations, are being followed; take
corrective action on any unsafe acts or hazards.
- Schedules and conduct employee training and maintain training
logs.
- Assists or reviews all accident investigations and assists with
injury management.
- Works in cooperation with Human Resources to develop and
monitor claim reporting procedures.
- Helps conduct company-wide safety meetings.
- Supports the management of the safety manual and implements or
removes policies as needed; updates forms as necessary.
- Attends seminars and classes to stay up to date and compliant
with state and federal regulations.
- Conducts annual equipment inspections.
- Assists Project Management in the pre-planning of operations to
ensure safety requirements are met, such as subcontractors safety
program, job hazard analysis, training credentials.
- Obtains and posts necessary warning signs and safety
posters.
- Works with the appropriate departments to establish procedures
for handling safety complaints from employees.
- Assists in managing company hazardous communication training
and documentation. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Basic knowledge of environmental and occupational health and
safety.
- Basic knowledge of applicable laws, ordinances, standards, and
regulations.
- Ability to communicate internally and with external business
contacts in an articulate, professional manner while maintaining
necessary degree of confidentiality.
- Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and
procedure manuals.
- Ability to work in a collaborative team environment.
- Ability to multitask and be flexible and adaptable to changes
to planned tasks or schedule.
- Analytical thinking and attention to detail.
- Exceptional problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to make sound decisions.
- Must be able to remain calm during stressful situations and
work through any challenges or issues that may arise. REQUIRED
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelors degree in Safety Management or related field
required.
- Paid internship related training or safety experience
required.
- Thorough knowledge and understanding of OSHA regulations, state
and federal guidelines required.
- Valid driver's license with a good driving record
required.
- Pass an annual Motor Vehicle Registration (MVR) check
required.
