Job Description:

Under the leadership of the Program Manager, the primary responsibilities of a Production Underwriter include analyzing Workers' Compensation risk exposures and determining the appropriate action regarding pricing and quoting of opportunities. They will work with Method's Independent Insurance Agency Partners to collect information pertaining to the risk quality and exposures.
The Production Underwriter will proactively build relationships with agency partners by communicating appetite, market accessibility, submission process, and binding requirements to gain access to new business opportunities and effectively write accounts. In this role, the individual would be responsible for acknowledging new submissions, corresponding professionally with agents and carriers, provide quotes and/or declinations, follow-up on quoted business, and binding new and renewal business.
The individual will perform risk selection, negotiate pricing on new and renewal business, process endorsement requests, reviews quotes, and partake in making sales calls to agents. This position requires underwriting knowledge as well as relationship management skills.
The Production Underwriter must engage the Agency Partners in our E x 3 Approach - Exceptional Service, Expert Underwriting & Distribution, and Extensive Appetite & Markets. This individual will be responsible for ensuring the E x 3 Approach is enforced and aligned with Method's Brokerage Division production goals as well as our Exclusive Program Division.

Exhibit understanding and knowledge of insurance risk and carrier appetite
Assess submission applications, loss runs, experience mod worksheets and other supplemental information that pertains to a specific risk exposure(s)
Analyze risk vs exposure in terms of rating, quoting, and binding accounts within specified underwriting guidelines
Demonstrates a professional, technical, and sales mentality when managing accounts
Gain an understanding of market and competitor environment to provide insight and input on pricing and marketing strategies
Collaborate with internal staff to ensure that accounts are brought through the Lifecycle of a Submission and carried into production results accordingly
Function as a liaison between our Agency Partners and other internal functions such as loss control, claims, business development, marketing, and Method's Specialty Workers' Compensation Program
Manage assigned agents efficiently including production reviews, providing Exceptional Service through responsive and timely communication, and effectively work through channel conflicts and/or expectation levels
Meet/exceed performance expectations including managing submissions, quotes, and binders each week/month based on assigned metric goals
Document all activity including contacts, calls (phone or in-person), appointments, and opportunities within our Agency Relationship Management (ARM) system

This role currently has no supervisory responsibilities.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, G Suite, Adobe Acrobat, or similar software
This position operates in a professional office setting and is largely a sedentary role. However, some filing is necessary and may require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand on a stool as necessary.
This is a full-time, salaried exempt, position. Typical work hours and days are Monday through Friday, from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. Some flexibility in hours is allowed, however, the employee must be available during the "core" work hours of 9:30 am to 3:30 pm and must work 37.5 hours each week.
Some travel may be required (up to 25%) to visit agencies, attend conventions and trade shows, or other insurance professional networking or association events.

A bachelor's degree in business or related field mandatory
At least two years' Workers' Compensation, insurance and/or underwriting experience is preferred
A combination of education and experience may be accepted
