Job Description:
ResponsibilitiesOPPD's Systems Engineering Department is looking
for an electrical engineer that supports the safe and reliable
operation the District's electrical generating assets. The
individual is assigned accountability specific plant systems and
equipment and will provide timely technical on-site support for
station activities, limited scope modifications, plant performance
analysis, technical review of operating reports, evaluation of
system performance, and technical analysis to troubleshoot and
resolve plant issues. Position is primarily based at one station
but may be called upon to serve any of the generating stations.
Performance is measured by the reliability, material condition,
safety, economics, and performance of assigned systems and
projects.This position will primarly support OPPD's North Omaha
Station.
- Under technical direction, perform system health monitoring
including identification of critical systems or components required
for reliable plant operation, as part of the reliability centered
maintenance program.
- Perform analysis or diagnostic evaluations on plant systems
based on education and within engineering discipline.
- Complete cross-training programs to ensure adequate engineering
support at each generating station for key systems.
- Coordinate with other departments as needed to design and
implement minor design changes to the generating stations,
including close out activities.
- Develop troubleshooting plans for emergent plant problems whose
resolution exceeds the skill of the Maintenance and Operations
staff using standard techniques and basic engineering principals
and provide technical direction during the conduct of
troubleshooting.
- Accountable for a cursory understanding of all applicable
governmental, Code, Industry standards, internal procedures,
reliability standards and internal policies QualificationsRequired:
- Four (4) year Bachelor of Science Engineering degree
(ABET-accredited degree) in an Engineering discipline related to
power generation.
- Basic college graduate level oral and written communications
skills.
- Solid quantitative skills with the ability to analyze data and
report results.
- Basic understanding of the utility industry.
- Maintain cognizance of emerging industry operating
experience.
- Demonstrated capability and interpersonal skills to work in a
team environment while completing independent tasks and
assignments.
- A valid driver's license is required. Desired:
- Advanced degree in an Engineering discipline related to power
generation.
- EIT / Successful completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering
(FE) examination
- Engineering internship / Coop in power generation or related
field
- Familiarity and experience in AutoDesk (CAD, Inventor, Vault),
Bentley MicroStation
- Demonstrated capabilities of researching, decision making, and
presenting to a diverse audience.
- Advanced MS Office Professional Skills (Word, Excel,
PowerPoint, Outlook and SharePoint).
- Awareness of applicable codes: ASME, OSHA, NFPA, IEEE, etc.
