With our combined resources CommonSpirit is committed to building healthy communities advocating for those who are poor and vulnerable and innovating how and where healing can happen both inside our hospitals and out in the community.ResponsibilitiesJob Summary / PurposeThe System Director of Risk Management and Loss Prevention is responsible for independently developing, implementing and assessing effectiveness of system-wide programs designed to reduce liability and property losses. - These programs are aligned with CommonSpirit Health's (CSH) strategic plan and encompass the entire care continuum, Joint Operating Agreements, Congregations and other insured locations. - The Director is affiliated with a division or service line but also works across the system with national functional leaders. - Essential Key Job Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement, in partnership with functional and operational leaders, system-wide loss prevention initiatives designed to reduce potential harm to patients, residents, clients, visitors, employees, physicians and property.
  • Collaborate across the CSH enterprise Division / Service Line Legal Teams and Senior Leaders on the resolution of high-profile risk-related issues such as an allegation of abuse, drug diversion, an unexpected patient, visitor or employee death, large scale privacy breach, complex ethical dilemma, or criminal activity.
  • Partner with senior clinical leaders to identify service lines or departments with actual or potential high risk of employee, visitor, environmental, or patient harm/losses to develop, facilitate the completion of a risk assessment to detect practices that create loss potential; assist in the development of a corrective action plan and monitor performance.
  • Provide input in the orientation, training, and mentoring of individuals responsible for facility risk management functions.
  • Communicate loss trends and analysis to service line, division, market and facility senior leaders and identity which loss prevention initiative(s), if implemented, will reduce exposures. Recommends and spearheads the creation of programs to address identified gaps.
  • Create and communicate system-wide risk and loss reduction policies for endorsement and operationalization at the division, market or facility level. QualificationsMinimum QualificationsRequired Education and Experience - - - - - - - - - Bachelor's Degree in a healthcare related field - - - - - - - - - Minimum of ten (10) years' experience in Healthcare Risk Management - - - - - - - - - Minimum of five (5) years in a leadership positionRequired Licensure and Certifications - - - - - - - - - Certified Professional in Healthcare Risk Management (CPHRM)Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Training - - - - - - - - - Able to work independently - - - - - - - - - Demonstrates good judgement - - - - - - - - - Able to analyze and communicate complex loss trends data to a broad audience - - - - - - - - - Capable of communicating at all levels of the organization - - - - - - - - - Superior written and oral communication skills - - - - - - - - - Excellent problem solver - - - - - - - - - Remains calm, composed and professional when involved in emotionally charged situations - - - - - - - - - Able to Implement the strategic plan while paying attention to details - - - - - - - - - High degree of comfort in utilizing technological job aids - - - - - - - - - Strong working knowledge of loss prevention, quality processes and managing complex projects to success.A compensation range of $123,000 - $160,000 is the reasonable estimate that CommonSpirit in good faith believes it might pay for this particular job based on the circumstances at the time of posting. CommonSpirit may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range as permitted by law.
