Job Description:
We are looking for a Research Tech 2 to join our R&D team in
Omaha, Nebraska!Located along the Missouri River, our Omaha office
is within walking distance to downtown shops and restaurants. Join
us for yoga or strength training classes offered at the onsite
fitness center. Conagra's R&D facilities in Omaha are state of
the art, including a large super lab, open benchtop space for
prototype development, a top-of-the-line culinary kitchen, and a
50,000 square foot pilot plant.As the Research Technician 2,
reporting to the R&D Manager, you will collaborate with food
scientists and the pilot plant staff to prepare products for bench
top, pilot plant or production testing. You will collaborate with
the team to assist in the creation of great food within a high
impact culture, showing a passion for food preparation and cooking.
You will conduct tests in culinary kitchen, laboratory, pilot
plant, and production areas to evaluate texture, particle size
analysis, etc.Position ResponsibilitiesProduct Development
SupportConduct bench top and pilot plant testingSet up, operate,
disassemble, sanitize and reassemble lab equipmentPrepare samples
for shipment in collaboration with scientist and shipping and
receiving departmentLearn and utilize on-line specification
systemTrains new employees on lab procedures including cleaning,
proper maintenance and bench scale development processesDevelops
and leads new processes or procedures to simplify work processes
for a more efficient way of operatingSetting up purchase orders and
ensuring delivery of goods/servicesEnsures food safety and food
handling techniques are followed during storage, preparation and
cleanup of all foodsCoordinates shelf life studies and sample
preparationLaboratory MaintenanceOrganization, Cleaning and
Maintenance of shared frozen, refrigerated and ambient storage
spacesFacilitates lab cleaning including shared equipment i.e.
microwaves, stovetop, ovensCalibration of lab equipment including
temp probes, microwaves and ovensCreates facilities requests to
maintain super lab appliances, plumping, electricalInventory
ManagementAcquiring and stocking general use raw materials in
laboratoryInventory control of raw materials that includes shelf
life monitoring and rotating out old inventoryWorks closely with
pilot plant ingredient procurement within federal
regulationsMaintains off site storage inventoriesAssist in managing
the shipments of products and ingredients to various production
facilities and suppliers.Maintain key product libraries and
relevant samples for all business pillarsPosition
QualificationsHigh School diploma or GED required.2+ years' work
experience in a food or lab environmentBasic knowledge of food
safety practices.Demonstrated ability to communicate well, follow
directions and effectively collaborate with others to accomplish
common goals.Willingness to taste a wide variety of food products
for evaluation purposes.Ability to learn and independently operate
specialized lab equipment.Knowledge of Microsoft Office
SuiteAbility to travel independently as a responsible ConAgra
Brands representative.Physical RequirementsAbility to lift 40 lbs
on a regular basis.Ability to stand continuously for up to 4
hours.Ability to operate and move freely around manufacturing
equipment.Exposure to manufacturing environments for periodic
extended workdays to include loud noise, heat, cold, wet and
slippery conditions and exposure to all food allergens.We require
