Job Description:
At Corbion, we exist to champion preservation in all its forms,

Material Handler is responsible for monitoring raw material levels
and unloading rail cars and trucks with raw materials for the Acid
and Derivatives department safely according to standard procedures.
In this role, you will also perform daily checks to ensure
integrity of the unloading and storage systems. The value of raw
materials used per shift produced can be up to $50,000. Timely
loading/unloading trucks is crucial to avoid up $150 per hour of
demurrage charges.
Essential Job Functions:
Monitor raw and auxiliary material levels (Lime, Hydroxide,
Fermentation Nutrients) used in the production processes. Monitor
the unloading activities, both from the field and from control
room, to ensure standard operating procedures, regulations, and
additional instructions are followed.
Start-up, operation, control and monitoring of unloading
processes.
Share control findings with the technician in the plant and the
technician in the control room, and execute specific control and
operation actions.
Take samples of incoming raw materials for laboratory analysis.
Solve, within the limits of authority, non-routine problems with
consequences for installations, processes, the environment and/or
occupational health and safety (OH&S), informing or consulting
the supervisor/manager and dealing with them in the manner
discussed.
Transport raw and auxiliary materials to process equipment using a
forklift truck. Inspect incoming tanker trucks, give directions to
drivers, unload materials into storage tanks and enter receiving
information into computer system.
Receive raw materials in the ERP system and check Bill of Ladings
for bulk shipments.
Keep unloading and storage systems in operational condition to
achieve minimum loss of productivity, creating maximum
availability.
Register data to guarantee optimal progress of the process.
Execute QESH standards per defined roles and responsibilities to
ensure personal and product safety and quality.
Perform within the guidelines of all Good Manufacturing Practices
(GMP's), Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's), security measures,
housekeeping, Hazard Analysis & Critical Control Point (HACCP), all
quality, regulatory, environmental, safety and health guidelines
and regulations. These standards are used in all daily activities
to ensure product safety and quality are in compliance.
Qualifications:
High School Diploma or GED required.
Limited experience in an industrial environment
Safety training for process industry
Mechanical skills
Experience using a computer (Word, Excel, BPCS)
Safety hazard identification
Fork lift driving
General Working Environment:
Material Handlers are required to work outside of the plant, on an
elevated surface, with some tasks taking place in an office
environment.
Material Handlers will work in an industrial environment, and will
have to wear the appropriate PPE including but not limited to hard
hats, safety glasses, safety boots, chemical suits, face-shields,
rubber gloves and uniform clothing.
Temperature inside and outside the facility will range between
-15*F and 120*F depending on location and the activities
involved.
Usual Physical Activities:
Through the course of a typical shift an individual in this
position will perform the following activities;
Must be able to perform moderately heavy physical activity 25% of
time and lift weight up to 50lbs
Must be able to lift or pull heavy objects daily, in excess of
50lbs
