Starting Monday, August 4, 2025 Job Title: Para-Educator –
Teacher Aide - @ David City Elem English Language Learner Program
Positions Available in All Buildings GOAL: The essential functions
of the Para-Educator position include (1) regular, dependable
attendance on the job; (2) the ability to perform the identified
tasks and to possess and utilize the identified knowledge, skills,
and abilities and to perform the identified work activities; and,
(3) the ability to perform the physical requirements. Reports To:
Building Principal Essential Job Functions : Assist students in the
regular classroom. Assist students in the resource room. First aid
knowledge. Train and teach students - Identify the educational
needs and teach or instruct. Get Information - Observe, receive,
and otherwise obtain information from all relevant sources.
Establish and Maintain Interpersonal Relationships - Develop
constructive and cooperative working relationships with others, and
maintain them over time. Maintain confidentiality-maintain a
positive relationship with students refraining from discussion of
student matters outside the school setting. Communicate with
Supervisors and Peers - Provide information to supervisors and
co-workers by telephone, in written form, e-mail, or in person.
Think Creatively - Develop, design, or create new applications,
ideas, relationships, systems, or products, including artistic
contributions. Update and Use Relevant Knowledge - Keep up-to-date
technically and apply new knowledge to your job. Interpret the
Meaning of Information for others - Translate or explain what
information means and how it can be used. Consistent and dependable
attendance. Specific Job Activities: Assist in classroom activities
Correct papers and record grades Supervise at lunch, activity
periods and on playground Run copies, laminate, and assemble items
for teachers Discuss assigned duties with classroom teachers in
order to coordinate instructional efforts. Prepare lesson
materials, bulletin board displays, exhibits, equipment, and
demonstrations. Present subject matter to students under the
direction and guidance of teachers, using lectures, discussions, or
supervised role-playing methods. Tutor and assist children
individually or in small groups in order to help them master
assignments and to reinforce learning concepts presented by
teachers. Supervise students in classrooms, halls, cafeterias,
school yards, and gymnasiums, or on field trips. Conduct
demonstrations to teach such skills as sports, dancing, and
handicrafts. Distribute teaching materials such as textbooks,
workbooks, papers, and pencils to students. Distribute tests and
homework assignments, and collect them when they are completed.
Enforce administration policies and rules governing students. Grade
homework and tests, and compute and record results, using answer
sheets or electronic marking devices. Required Employee

details at close range (within a few feet of the observer).
Auditory Attention - The ability to focus on a single source of
sound in the presence of other distracting sounds. Problem
Sensitivity - The ability to tell when something is wrong or is
likely to go wrong. It does not involve solving the problem, only
recognizing there is a problem. Exhibit and maintain patience.
At-Will Employment: Employment with the School District is not for
a set period of time (follows teacher annual contract dates), and
either party may terminate this agreement, with or without cause,
and with or with two weeks' notice. Employment with the School
District is not governed by any express or implied contract of
employment containing terms different from or inconsistent with
those stated in this employment agreement. The terms of this
employment agreement may not be modified except in a writing signed
by the Superintendent of Schools. TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT : Salary and
work year to be established by the Board of Education. Job
Description specific to Special Education (in addition to those
already listed) Assist special and regular education students
during classroom activities, lunch, physical education periods,
recess and various other activities as directed. Assist with
meeting the IEP goals of students Participate in IEP meetings and
parent conferences as requested Assist with maintaining IEP records
and files; contact parents as directed or required Provide
instructional assistance to individuals or groups of special
education students in a special class or when mainstreamed into
regular classrooms Assist with services of prescribed programs
including those written by related service providers such as PT,
OT, and speech Participate in staff meetings, special training, and
in-service training programs as assigned Adapt materials/equipment
as specified for particular students Assist or respond to specific
health needs of a child, (for example: unclogging trachea, knowing
what to do if trachea comes out) and knowing the health plan
designed for the child Implement behavior management techniques in
accordance with the directives given by the supervision teacher
(reinforcing behaviors in accordance with the teacher's plan,
supervising, time out, etc.) Strictly adhere to confidentiality
requirements regarding all matters pertaining to students, parents,
parent communication, and/or classroom activities Early Childhood
Assist in the development of independent skills through self-care
activities, such as toileting, clothing routines, and personal
hygiene (includes the possibility of toilet training, diaper
changes, etc.) Secondary or transition students Assist with job
coaching at community sites as well as with transportation to and
from job sites Assist special education students in vocational
training programs Accompany/transport students on community
experience/field trips Library/Media Check books in and out Assist
students and teachers in locating books (as needed) Repair books
Reshelf books and keep shelves in an orderly manner Process new
books and magazines as needed Read to students (as assigned) Put
up/take down holiday decorations Pass out overdue notices Check
technology and dust
